Turentek was incorporated in early 2000, by Neil Aspinshaw and Paul Henstock, with a combined experience of 60 years of Architectural Ironmongery.


In 1999 when our employer the Arcon Group went into receivership we decided to set up our own  business,  specialists’ in our trade, supplying door controls, security products and door furniture, our aim, to be the best in what we do, where size of our organization was unimportant, compared to the service we offered.


1999/2004   Learning to swim: The Lace Market.

Being thrown in at in at the deep end is certainly not the ideal way to set up in business,  being made redundant is not one experience that we want to suffer again.  It was the determination to succeed that made us even more focused on getting things right.


From the start our telephones started ringing, customers placed their trust in us as people, credibility, the cornerstone of business, we had kept intact, those who knew us began to send enquiries, orders and specifications, within months we secured a huge contract for the ENT building at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham and Thoresby Hall for Warner Hotels, from then we didn’t look back.


In the next two years we were joined by Jason and Keith, we began to expand, with this expansion came newer horizons.


2004/2008 Moving upwards: Canal Street

In 2004 we re-located to Canal Street, an ideal venue, ample storage, trade counter facilities and parking!, in very short time we were joined by Jason, Dave,  Michelle, Jane and Pat.  We began to build a reputation for quality and service, doing things the right way, even bigger more prestigious contracts followed, the brand new Met Office building in Exeter, building of the Year, a typical example of Turenteks’ growing reputation and technical abilities.


In 2007 we launched “Ovation” our own designed range of stainless steel hardware, it broke the mold of basic round bar handles, from the start it became a winner, as its classy lines gave architects’ an ultra modern design and  compliancy with BS8300.


We grew through recommendations, partnerships and reputation, in one particular tendering presentation the PLC contractor, who had been questioning various architectural Ironmongers, actually commented “ I wish we had a presentation point for enthusiasm”…


2008 present,  Trent House

In Nov 2008 we settled into our current premises, our showroom and flourishing trade counter now covers 1000 square feet , our warehouse 6000 square feet, car parking for 12 vehicles and easy access to the city.



As the business became more established we moved into very specialist areas of the trade, in particular designing ranges of Anti ligature hardware for the Healthcare sector. Our partnership with some of the industries most prestigious brands were established, we were awarded a Platinum Distributor status by ASSA/Abloy, and we became a Main distributor  for Salto’s “virtual network” electronic locking systems.


In 2011 Turentek  were highly commended in the GAI/RIBA specification awards for the Roundhouse refurbishment in Derby.


So the success continues, despite the economic climate we continue to grow, perhaps it’s the who we are, our reputations and finally the determination to continue to do things the right way, the way we did in 1999 when we started with a fax and a phone, one desk and two chairs, which has never left us.
